Thursday night, people all across the country will be camping out in front of retail stores for Black Friday, with hopes of getting the ideal deals on some hot items.
Shoppers were lined up outside of the Best Buy store in Boardman last year on Black Friday, trying to get their hands on the most wanted products. So what is expected to be hot this year?
The first item on the list–Google TV.
“What it does, it brings the Internet to your television,” stated Chelsea Reed, Best Buy sales associate. “So while you are actually watching TV, you could surf the web, go on check your email. You’re going to be able to bring your Netflix account right to your tv without having to go through another receiver.”
Both Sony and Logitech make their own version, and each one has their own type of keypad. But the Sony offers customers a tiny something extra.
“When you buy the Sony one, you are also going to get a blue ray player with it,” Reed said.
The second most popular item this year, is the Microsoft XBOX Kinect. It’s the first video game ever played without a controller.
“You are the controller,” Reed said. “So with this, you are getting up off the couch. You’re jumping right into the game.”
Reed stated it’s fun for the entire family no matter the age. And there is a lot of different variety of games.
“You could ride in a car, you could play with an animal, you can play soccer,” she said. “Depending on what you like to do, there is something for everyone.”
The Kinect does require an XBOX 360.
The number three item on the list, is the eReader. There are three major ones out right now: the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Nobel Noon and the Sony Digital Reader.
Reed states the eReaders are very light weight and portable.
“You’re gonna be able to read them in direct sunlight,” Reed said. “They are black and white text screen so it’s not gonna be like staring at a computer screen all day.”
The font can also be adjusted on the eReaders. They can also hold between 1,500 and 3,500 depending on which one you choose.
Some of them also double as mp3 Players, and have free WiFi service.
As with most Black Friday sales, there is a limit on the number of products marked down and it’s first come first serve.
